July 1947 – Berlin Potsdamer Platz with traffic tower

Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, capital of Germany, is one of the world’s most popular city squares. You can see the Square in year 1947, two years after WWII. I am not sure if this shot was taken after the war or if it was taken before the war. Everything is very tidy. Did it really look like that in 1947 in the center of Berlin?

This is an interesting contemporary document. In addition to the cars and the tram, you can also see the first traffic tower in Europe. Installed in 1924 on Potsdamer Platz.

This postcard was not cancelled in Berlin! An the stamp ist from “Württemberg”, part of the french sector in Germany.
